Bruce Thompson (Physics) presented a paper at the American Association of Physics Teachers Summer Meeting

Bruce Thompson (Physics) presented a paper at the American Association of Physics Teachers Summer Meeting in Minneapolis on July 30, 2014 entitled “ A Dissociated, Progressive Introductory Physics Laboratory”. The talk described his recent revision of the long standing first year laboratory in the physics curriculum. The course is dissociated because students take it in the semester following their introductory mechanics course. It is progressive because multiple themes and skills are developed and refined over the course of the semester. Both of these concepts are unique and provide the student with a rich experimental physics experience upon which  alumni remark as having continued relevance in their careers.
