This year’s IC A Healthy Me Challenge was a series of two 30-day events consisting of fitness, nutrition, and mind based activities geared towards encouraging staff and faculty to develop holistic healthy habits that could be sustained for the rest of their lives.

The Summer Salad Summons challenged participants to maintain a healthier diet by eating three or more salads each week. Congratulations to Sarah Shank for eating the most salads!

  • Over the course of the challenge, 214 salads were consumed.
  • If you swapped a McDonald’s Premium SouthWest Crispy Chicken McWrap for a Panera Bread Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad (with dressing) everyday, you would consumed 3500 less calories each week – which would amount to a loss of 1 pound per week.

Hike for Happiness challenged participated to combine being social with exercise! Congratulations to Tom & Claire Swensen for photographing the most scavenger hunt items!

  • The most frequently hiked location was Robert H. Treman State Park.
  • If you walked each of the 5 trails at Robert H. Treman State Park every day, you would be walking 10.64 miles per day. On average, this would burn 816 calories per day – which would amount to a loss of just under 2 pounds per week.

Photos from the challenges are available for viewing by clicking here. Thank you for everyone who participated in this challenge and we look forward to our next challenge!
