Tropiano Delivers Paper at UFVA, Wins Park Writing AwardContributed by Melissa Gattine on 08/26/14 Stephen Tropiano, associate professor of screen studies, presented a paper entitled “‘Last Show of the Series”: TV Finales as Event Television” at the University Film & Video Association Conference at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. In May, Dr. Tropiano received the Park Faculty Writing Award for his book Saturday Night Live FAQ: Everything Left to Know About Television’s Longest-Running Comedy (Applause Books, 2013). A panel of Park School faculty whose professional expertise represent scholarly writing, journalism, and screen/scriptwriting reviewed the nominations and selected the winners. The committee said: Stephen Tropiano has compiled in book form the definitive history of the iconic program, the ABCs of SNL. And because he has written a book that appeals to scholars and fans, comedians and academics, we in Park would like to recognize Stephen Tropiano with this year's Park School Writing Award. |
