Fall School of Music Convocation to include faculty performances and rededication of the newly renovated main performance hallContributed by Jenny Stockdale on 09/02/14 The School of Music Convocation, presented by Dean Karl Paulnack, will take place at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in the newly renovated Ford Hall, within the Whalen Center for Music. The event is intended for all Music majors, but open to the entire campus community. Serving as the inaugural concert and rededication of Ford Hall, the event will include faculty performances by the Ithaca College Brass Quintet, Deborah Montgomery-Cove (soprano), Ivy Walz (mezzo soprano), Charis Dimaras (piano), and the Sheherazade Trio, featuring Jennifer Hayghe (piano), Susan Waterbury (violin), and Elizabeth Simkin (cello). The refurbished hall includes an 8' stage extension, energy efficient LED lighting, a new projection screen, 644 seats, an improved sound system, and beautiful new hardwood interior, among other improvements. A note for students: School of Music Convocations are designed to bring together all music majors at Ithaca College. Music students can receive recital attendance credit for this event, but must pick up their recital attendance cards in the music office before the convocation.
