Recycling: Doing it Right

 Single Stream recycling means you can put all the recycling together in one bin, as long as that bin isn’t the trash bin. You can mix the recycling together in the bin in your room and then take it outside and place it in the Blue or Green bins with the “R” on them. 

 

Recycling is the simplest thing you can do to safe guard our life-support systems.  It also helps the College keep costs down by saving money; we have to pay to dump the trash but, we get paid for recycling.

 Here’s how to do it:

 YES, In the bin

  • Cardboard & Mixed Paper
    • Paper clips, staples, rubber bands, and plastic windows on envelopes and paper are OK.
    • Post-it Notes Recycle!
  • Glass Containers
    • Lids, labels and neck rings on containers are OK.
  • Metal Cans & Foil
    • Empty and rinse, if you can
  • #1 Through #7 Plastic Containers
    • Empty and rinse, if you can
    • Lids can stay on
  • Paper Milk & Juice Cartons
    • Empty and flatten
  • Small Rigid Plastics
    • Any rigid plastic smaller than a five gallon pail

  • Plastic Bags
  • Styrofoam®
  • Drinking glasses, Pyrex®, or coffee pots
  • Paper cups, tissues, napkins
  • Syringes
  • Containers from hazardous waste
  • Compostable plastics
  • Hangers
  • PVC pipes
  • Electric appliances
