Attention, nature lovers! Ithaca College Natural Lands seeks volunteer stewards. Learn how to join here. Ithaca College owns and manages over 365 acres of natural lands adjacent to our developed campus. The Volunteer Stewards Program is our way of keeping an eye of all that space with the help of student, faculty, and community volunteers. Stewards adopt a stretch of trail and commit to hiking it at least three times a month. Stewards are the eyes and ears of their piece of the Natural Lands, reporting to the ICNL Staff any things of interest or concern (eg fallen trees, fires, signs of hunting, etc). We will be doing several orientations and to the Natural Lands if you are new to the area, and you can partner with a friend for your hikes. Stewards receive a free ICNL T-shirt or cap, and they are the first to know about ICNL-sponsored group hikes and other outdoor education workshops. Many past stewards say that the best part of their work is having a reason to get outside, explore, and watch the seasons change. Contact ICNL@ithaca.edu to get started. |
