Please join me on Thursday, October 2 for the second Faculty Colloquium of the academic year.

Dr. Katherine Beissner, Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and fellow of the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute, will be presenting “Pondering Pain:  Lessons from the Big Apple and Beyond”

While Dr. Beissner enjoys working in a variety of physical therapy areas, her primary research interest is in geriatric pain management through the use of cognitive and behavioral self-management strategies. Her recent research examines how race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, health history, social support and physical abilities affect the function and quality of life of older adults.

The IC Faculty Colloquium, launched in 2012, is a monthly event designed to provide a forum for faculty to share with one another their scholarly and creative work. This is a chance for people across department and school lines to learn more about the exciting pursuits of their colleagues and to engage with one another as members of a common learning community.

The Colloquium will take place from 5:00p.m.-6:30p.m.in the Clark Lounge of the Campus Center.  We will enjoy wine, appetizers, an outstanding presentation, and excellent conversation.   The first half-hour will be a social time during which we will hear a live music performance from a saxophone quartet, the Cayuga Saxophone Quartet, from the studio of Dr. Steve Mauk, School of Music. The members of the group are Ian Herbon, Brian Dill, Jocelyn Ames, and Matthew Stookey.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Please see the Events Calendar for additional details.
