Leading in a Diverse World
Examining Privilege
“What is your relationship to power?” examines different points of access to privilege by evaluating many aspects of identity. In which areas have you have been denied access to power? In what ways have you been able to demonstrate a considerable degree of power? Participants will illustrate this relationship in order to provide visual representation to the complexity of their lives. Participants will have the opportunity for group reflection in order to share their perspectives on human power. The activity and discussion will be facilitated by the Diversity Peer Education Program.

How to Successfully Market Your Local Business
During Marketing Week hosted by the IC chapter of the American Marketing Association, Allison Gaffin from the Ithaca Beer Company will be giving a presentation on how to successfully marketing your small business. As the Marketing Director of the Ithaca Beer Co. Mrs. Gaffin will be discussing the tactics that her and her team are using in marketing their products. The Ithaca Beer Company has grown tremendously since its inception in 1997 and is now marketing, and distributing to six states. This local business will allow students to see how marketing has helped to create a successful brand. Not only will students learn the skills of being a good marketer but gain important knowledge in terms of leadership skills, how to foster collaboration and become a true team player.

Communication is a key part to any successful student organizations. This sessions dives deep into understanding what happens when communication goes wrong in a student organization. We will focus on developing new methods of communication by working together. We will also discuss new ways to eliminate confrontation and build a better team unity.
