At its October meeting, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees welcomed recently elected member Thad Fortin, who will serve a four-year term on the board.

Fortin is executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Wesco Aircraft, where he is responsible for global strategy, integration, business development (mergers & acquisitions) and global strategic marketing. Wesco is the parent company of Haas Group International, the world’s largest chemical management services company. Fortin had previously served for 33 years at Haas, most recently as chief executive officer.

A 1981 graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in business administration, Fortin served as chair of the Business Advisory Council. In that role he led an effort to create a comprehensive internship and career development program for the School of Business. He has regularly provided internships at Haas for IC students and has participated in the school’s Distinguished Executive Lecture Series, speaking on entrepreneurial innovation. In 2011, he was presented with the Volunteer Service Award by the Ithaca College Alumni Association.

Fortin serves on the board of directors of Eagle National Bank and is a founder and trustee of the Kevin W. Walsh Foundation.
