BOUNCING BACK 7/1/14
WHAT CAUSED SLIPPING AWAY FROM HEALTHY ROUTINES #1 cause: believing I had no time (no time to eat properly, no time to exercise, too tired, etc) Hitting a plateau with tracking ( pound up, pound down, back & forth) Feeling discouraged which later became feeling helpless which lead to getting careless and not caring Poor choices, taking the easy way out, being swayed by others THE NEGATIVE IMPACT THAT FOLLOWED The eye opener and what got me heading back in the right direction were doctor reports in Sept. and Nov. (heading in very unhealthy direction & did not want to be there) Took more energy to do things I could do easily in the past Hard to find clothes that fit (& hated mirrors & photos) Did not feel good about myself Scared! HOW I GOT BACK ON TRACK Decided at the beginning of December that I needed to take action & reclaim my life Realized that for me it was not just eating right or exercising properly-it was BOTH combined Left my safety net and tried Simply Filling to get me off the tracking plateau (relieved anxiety and was easier for me Consulted with my MindBodyMe wellness coach Swallowed my pride, contacted the Wellness Clinic staff, and admitted that I needed help Started exercise again from scratch, worked with a trainer to develop sound plan, and checked in with her regularly Continued to attend WW meetings and really listened to both Samarra & to others on new ideas Made myself a priority (something Samarra had told me to do over a year ago); held tight to what I knew was best to eat and to my exercise times, which I put on my calendar Weighed myself daily (this does not work for all, but to me, the visual person, it was important) Kept exercise logs at both the Wellness Clinic and my own at home (easier for me to see the full extent of what I had done all at once in one place Stayed positive & did not give up; approached the new me with determination!!!! RESULTS OF RENEWED COMMITMENT Since I began my renewal in December 2013, there has been only one week that my weight has not gone down at WW check-in (since I viewed my worst weight on a week that we did not have a WW meeting, it does not reflect in my official record, but from my worst point to now, I have lost approximately 13 lbs) My January blood work for MindBodyMe showed incredible progress in just 5-6 weeks o Total cholesterol down 24 & back in healthy range o LDL (bad cholesterol) down 28.4 & back in healthy range o Glucose down 8 & in healthy range o Blood pressure went from 143/94 and 144/90 (Sept physical) to 113/82 Have lost inches in waist & hips, clothes fit better, back and arm rolls disappearing Blood pressure readings are now more likely to be around 108/72 (average for Dec-Mar was 114/75) Enjoy having photos taken as I can see progress Rarely eat a full big meal when out; take half home and still feel full Using tips from WW meetings have reorganized the refrigerator and stocked it with healthy food, do not bring unhealthy snacks into the house, & say no to food I really do not want to eat Have much more pep & energy and am proud of my results Enjoy eating healthy & exercising; have finally made ME a priority! |

In high school I got diagnosed with a benign tumor in my tibia. Before this incident and the surgery, I had been very fit, on the varsity tennis team and ate relatively healthy. After my surgery I was not able to walk much and I was miserable with pain. When I fully recovered, I had put on about 30 pounds and I was not comfortable in my own skin. I decided that I needed a program that wasn't a fad diet but something that I could adapt to and base my life around without restrictions. Weight Watchers for me was the perfect fit because of the manageable point system, flexibility and support. I am now a lifetime member and have lost approximately 30 pounds to date, and I feel so much more in control of my food intake and body. I have realized how important it is to follow the healthy guide lines, work-out, and track in order to live a happy more fulfilled life.
