I would like to thank the Veterans Day committee for all their hard work on this event. The music was, as always, incredible, thanks to the IC Brass Choir under Keith Kaiser, and Keith W. "Mac" McIntosh's reflections about his career in the Air Force were very good. You could feel what it must have been like up in that plane! I just wish more members of the IC community would come out to support this commemorative event--the more removed we become from information about and memories of those who have served in the Armed Forces, the more apt we may be to become complacent about wars. In the words of philosopher George Santayana (1863-1952): "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" and "Only the dead have seen the end of war." We need to hear and remember these stories of service every year.
