Exploring Ithaca College Culture - 42360 - IISP 11000 - 01 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm W Williams Hall 221 Mary Ann Erickson 1 Credit Wouldn’t it be great to get credit for attending events across the IC campus? The purpose of this seminar is to provide you with a structured platform for exploring the academic and cultural offerings at Ithaca College during spring semester 2015. Class members attend, discuss and reflect on a variety of academic, artistic and cultural offerings. Students build the calendar, attend events alone, with friends or with class mates, discuss their experiences in class, and contribute to a course blog. Open to all first-year and sophomore students. Becoming a Professional: Understanding & Applying a Liberal Education 43835 - IISP 19000 - 01 9:00 am - 9:50 am MW Hill G10 Amanda Lippincott 1-2 Credits What if you could learn by doing? Internships sound good, but how do you get ready to be successful in one? The purpose of this course is to help you discover the connections between a liberal education and the working world. The course will prepare you to engage appropriately and constructively in workplace and community settings as you consider whether and how to pursue internships to gain experience linking your education to potential career goals. Exploring the Options: Finding Purpose and a Path in College 42362 - IISP 10500 – 01 Class 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm M Williams Hall 224 Elizabeth Bleicher 1 Credit How can you pick the right major and minor to have the kind of college experience you want? Exploring the Options is an interdisciplinary, one-credit course help you develop your philosophy of education and actively pursue knowledge about higher education, majors and minors, extra-curriculars, potential professions and yourself as a learner. Drawing on readings from education, sociology, history, economics and psychology, this course will provide you with concepts and tools to create your own map through your academic career.
