Have you ever wondered whether Orange is the New Black is the real deal? Come listen to Keri Blakinger speak on Monday, December 8, at 7:00pm in Friends 207 to find out what the real female prison experience is like. In 2010, Blakinger, then a Cornell student, was arrested with $150,000 of heroin. Four years later, she is clean, out of prison, and writing a book. She'll read a brief excerpt from the manuscript, talk about the bizarre norms and mores of the carceral world, and discuss some of the problems with theprison system. You can visit her personal website at www.keriblakinger.com

IC Books Thru Bars's mission is to send books to prisoners throughout the state and raise public awareness about the service that we offer. We think that incarcerated individuals still have the right to literacy. Furthermore, it is important to recognize that inmates are still human beings and we should treat them with certain respect and dignity as we would like to be treated.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodation, please email booksthrubars@gmail.com as far in advance as possible. Thank you.
