Game Changer: Students Can Now Request Test Accommodations through IC WorkflowContributed by Bryan Roberts on 01/22/15 The Academic Workflow Implementation Committee, working in conjunction with the Office of Student Accessibility Services (formerly Office of Students with Disabilities), is happy to announce that students needing testing accommodations can now make the request through workflow. The new online form allows qualified students to request schedule an exam with approved accommodations through Student Accessibility Services (SAS) from any computer, both on-campus or off-campus thus providing more access for students. It eliminates the use of paper requests, allows students more access, and improves timely communication between Student Accessibility Services, the students, and the faculty. Students, faculty, and SAS will get copies of each testing accommodation form that has been submitted, so everyone is aware of the information that has been requested by each student. The form is easy to complete as many of the fields are populated based on the student information in Homer, so the student doesn't need to remember how to spell a professors name, the course title, etc. Students will only have the ability to request accommodations they are uniquely approved for, so it eliminates much confusion. The process is much quicker as the submitted form automatically goes to the appropriate faculty member instead of SAS having to contact the faculty member after a paper form has been submitted. Students will know automatically if their form has been successfully submitted, and the form allows more clarification to the students directly from their faculty member for reasons why a request is not approved. The form allows students to request both traditional semester exams as well as final exams, and when requesting to take a final exam, there is a link to the Registrar's final exam schedule in addition to the determined seating times. The form is available to the campus community at the Academic Workflow website: https://aecmws.ithaca.edu/wf/ We have created an instructional website (complete with video) that should help answer questions or concerns that may arise.
