Congratulations to Dr. Orlando-Marquez Kittrell, State Grants Administrator/Manager of the Office of State Grants at Ithaca College.  Dr. Kittrell has been awarded full membership in the STEM Education Coalition based in Washington, D.C., and will represent Ithaca College on the Coalition's Leadership Council.

Dr. Kittrell joins a select group of educators and decision-makers who work together to inform federal and state policymakers on the critical need, goals, and global benefits for improving of STEM education at every level.  As a member of the Coalition, the Ithaca College Careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (C-STEM) Program recently lent its support

in a unified statement from the Coalition, in order to promote the benefits of adopting common standards for increasing the success of students pursuing STEM fields and careers.

At Ithaca College, Dr. Kittrell directs both the C-STEM Program and the New York State Arthur O. Eve Higher Opportunity Program (HEOP).  Sponsored in part by the New York State Education Department Office of Post Secondary Access, Support, and Success (OPASS), HEOP provides a broad range of services to New York State residents who, because of academic and economic circumstances, would otherwise be unable to attend Ithaca College.   The IC program was recently awarded a nearly $1.6 million five-year contract by the New York State Department of Education to provide oversight for the HEOP project, with Dr. Kittrell serving as the primary investigator (PI), on behalf of Ithaca College.
