Sherry Deckman, Education, presented, “Doing Diversity Differently in One Black Student Organization” at the American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting in Washington, DC in December. This paper presentation focused on Sherry’s ongoing research on diversity in higher education. In the study this paper is derived from, she draws on over a year of ethnographic fieldnotes and participant interviews to document how one black undergraduate student organization at Harvard University negotiates a multiracial membership.
