Something we often suspected is now being widely discussed in the media...music relieves stress!  If you are a member of our community faculty or staff, we would love to have you join us in IC voICes; we guarantee you will leave rehearsals with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!

IC voICes, now in its 14th year, offers a unique opportunity for faculty and staff across campus to enjoy their vocal talents, meet new friends, and work with both talented College faculty and students.  We are one of the only faculty/staff choirs in the country! Interested, but afraid of auditions? Not to worry...there are none!

IC voICes will begin our spring season on Monday, February 2nd from 4:00-5:00 pm in Room 1207 in the Whalen Center (ground floor).  Do something special for yourself this year, and come and join us!  Questions?  Contact our director, Dr. Susan Avery, at the address below.

Hope to see you there!

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Dr. Susan Avery at savery@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.

The group was formed by those who love to sing. Eventually campus performances were introduced as a means to make rehearsals more meaningful.

When I occasionally invite someone to join us, I usually get a response citing a poor singing voice. With few exceptions, everyone has the physical ability to sing and the capacity to improve. Being a member of voICes all these years has taught me that there is more to it than simply producing sound. It has made me a better singer and given me joy, in more ways than one.

We are fortunate to work at an educational institution (that started out as a music school!) — where better to learn and develop our singing skills? There is no expectation to be perfect. The only requirement is the love of singing; the rest will fall into place.
