Farewell to Lynn Eastman

Contributed by Jaimie Voorhees on 02/05/15

Contributed on behalf of Robert Cree, AVP for Business and Finance.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service to Ithaca College, Lynn Eastman has announced that she will be retiring from Ithaca College at the end of August 2015.  Lynn will begin transitioning towards retirement starting in March, where she will begin working part-time from March through August.

Lynn first came to the College in 1982, serving as a Director of Accounting for over 17 years. In 1999 she was promoted to Director of Financial Services and has held this position until the present day.

During Lynn’s time at Ithaca College, the Financial Services Office has seen tremendous change due to technological advances. Lynn has been responsible for helping the College through a number of financial information system implementations, the most recent being our implementation of Oracle’s e-business suite commonly referred to as Parnassus.

When I think of Lynn and the important role that she has performed for Ithaca College over the past 30 plus years, I think of her as the guardian of the College’s financial integrity. She is the epitome of leadership and integrity and has set the standard for the rest of us. Of course, Lynn has been responsible and instrumental in preparing for the College’s annual audit, for which we have received unqualified opinions during her entire tenure. This is like 33 years of clean bills of health!!

Referencing Radar O’ Riley from the old M.A.S.H. television program, Carl Sgrecci, retired vice president of finance and administration, would often say, “Lynn could read my mind and almost always knew what my question was going to be and already had the answer whenever I would call her.  She was my “Radar.”

We will keep the campus community informed as we make plans for filling the Director of Financial Services position. We will also let you know when we have scheduled a reception to celebrate Lynn’s work at Ithaca College and bid her a proper farewell prior to her last day on campus.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with Lynn over the years. Please join me in wishing Lynn the very best and thanking her for her outstanding contributions to Ithaca College over the past three decades.  She will be missed!

Best wishes to you, Lynn! I always appreciated your prompt and patient replies to my questions and things I had to bring to you to be taken care of. Wishing you a wonderful eventual retirement, but meanwhile hope to still work together.

Congratulations to you Lynn! I have to admit, I will feel like Linus without his blanket when you leave. You have always watched over our "numbers" and answered my questions with such patience. You will be missed.
