Photography Professor Ron Jude will give a lecture about his work and involvement in book publishing at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday, February 17th. He was invited to lecture as a part of the Photobook Melbourne Festival. Professor Jude will be presenting an overview of his projects from the past twenty years, focusing on his publishing activities of the past decade. With particular emphasis on Alpine Star, Emmett, and Lick Creek Line, his trilogy of books about his home state of Idaho, Jude will discuss the difficulty of meaning in photography, and how the use of truncated narrative can both exploit and redirect the unreasonable expectations we place on the medium. He will conclude his talk with a preview of his forthcoming book, Lago, which attempts to locate the psychological space of a desert landscape through a poetically structured collection of photographs. Ron Jude is also conducting a workshop on 18+19 Feb 2015.
