On Friday (Feb 27) at 3pm, in room 2330, Whalen Center for Music, Professor Timothy Johnson will present a lecture that he also will be giving at the Grawemeyer Award Conference in Louisville, KY.

The Grawemeyer Award Conference is part of the celebration marking the 30th year of this international award for music composition. The conference promotes scholarly dialogue on new music, with a focus on compositions of the 27 Grawemeyer-winning composers.

Professor Johnson's prior research areas include the music of Grawemeyer-award-winner John Adams as well as the music of Charles Ives. This lecture discusses how  Adam's orchestral work, My Father Knew Charles Ives, pays homage to Ives's music and also memorializes Adams's father.
