Fiona Gillison, PhD, from the Department of Health at the University of Bath, UK is presenting on “Waste the waist vs Passport to Health: How do we identify the ‘active ingredients’ in different and complex exercise programs?” a comparison of two different community programs designed to promote physical activity to sedentary adults.  The talk is on Thursday March 19th from 12:10 to 1:05 pm in Hill 107 and is free and open to the public.

Waist the Waste, is an intensive group-based intervention based on theory and extensive past research. Passport to Health, is a flexible community-based exercise referral scheme that has been running in local leisure facilities for a many years. 

Dr. Gillison is an expert on in individual and policy level approaches to reducing obesity.  Her research focuses on investigating methods to support people to improve their health behaviors to prevent and reduce obesity. You can find more information on the event on the IC Events Calendar.
