Interested in donating food to the BackPack program of the Foodbank of the Southern Tier?

Lisa Hillman, Erika Johnson, and Taylor Wenk are holding a food drive, Donate Your Snacks to Fill Up the Packs, on campus and within the Ithaca community as part of their Leadership for Health Promotion Class. The food drive begins Monday, March 16th, and will run until May 1st. This food drive is being held to support the BackPack program of the Foodbank of the Southern Tier. The food bank has teamed up with schools in 6 counties, including Tompkins County, to provide nutritious foods for children to take home over the weekends so they do not have to go hungry when they aren’t in school. Boxes and barrels will be placed in various locations on campus. Some of the locations include the Park School Lobby, on the second floor of Campus Center near the Grand Central Café, the Business School Lounge, the Circle Center, and the Terrace Dining Hall. Each box and barrel will have information on the food items the Foodbank is looking to collect for this particular program, but any food donations are welcome! Flyers will also be placed around campus, and those will be updated as new locations for boxes on and off campus are approved. The Public and Community Health Student Association has partnered with us in order to help sustain this wonderful program for the foreseeable future. So keep an eye out for boxes and barrels around campus to drop off your donations to help feed children in Tompkins County!

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Taylor Wenk at twenk1@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
