The Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity associate professor, Paula Ioanide, recently published an essay titled Ethical Witnessing in a Time of Racial Phobiaon Stanford University Press’s Blog. The piece reflects on how to deal with racial phobia in our cultures, particularly as it relates to systemic police violence. Many of the themes addressed in the essay are elaborated in her book, The Emotional Politics of Racism: How Feelings Trump Facts in an Era of Colorblindness, due for release on May 20, 2015.
