Ithaca College Opera to present new opera by Dana Wilson, "The Wolf By the Ears"Contributed by Brian DeMaris on 03/23/15
The work is composed by Ithaca College faculty member, Dana Wilson, with libretto by J. Robert Lennon and Dana Wilson. The opera is directed by David Lefkowich and conducted by Brian DeMaris. "The Wolf by the Ears" explores Thomas Jefferson's hidden relationship with his slave mistress Sally Hemings. The beautifully crafted libretto allows the audience to connect history with the present. Even though the opera takes place 200 years in the past, the issues of racial inequality, the responsibility of leadership, and making ethical choices are still relevant in today's society. |
