Campus Center Wi-Fi Completed

Contributed by Matt Gorney on 03/24/15

Ithaca College ITS is very pleased to announce that Campus Center has now successfully passed the testing phase and is now complete.  That means anyone using the Dining Hall, IC Square, or visiting Egbert, or Emerson should have consistent, stable, and robust Wi-Fi connectivity.

Our Network Services team worked hard to roll out the new Wi-Fi just in time for Ed Tech Day.  We monitored the usage that day, and were consistently impressed with the speeds and number of users that we were able to handle.  We received many compliments on the Wi-Fi from our visitors as well as the Ithaca College attendees. Also, almost one-third of all users were connecting using the newest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard which most new smartphones use.  This would have not been possible before our Wi-Fi remediation.

The entire ITS Wi-Fi project team is excited that we are keeping an aggressive pace and look forward to the next twenty buildings, as the largest wireless initiative in the school’s history moves along with success.

As always, if you are experiencing network connection issues, please contact the Helpdesk
at helpdesk@ithaca.edu or 274-1000
