As the spring semester draws to a close, students can become increasingly stressed by class assignments, finals, and other competing priorities. The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is a resource that can help.

If you are a student feeling overwhelmed by stress, please call CAPS at
607-274-3136. We can offer solutions and support such as:

  • Same-day counseling sessions in our Center for those who express an urgent need. If a student is in crisis, we provide services to that student the same-day that they contact our office.
  • Scheduled appointments, either in our Center, or with a local counseling professional. Wait times for appointments can range from 5-7 days at CAPS. Counselors in the local community can sometimes have shorter wait times.

Please note: To ensure the highest quality of care, all CAPS counseling sessions are conducted face-to-face between students and counselors. Counseling sessions are not conducted over the phone.

If you are a faculty, staff, or student member with concerns about a student:

  • Call the Office of Public Safety (607-274-3333) if you are concerned about their immediate safety.
  • Call CAPS (607-274-3136) during business hours to consult with a counselor about less urgent mental health concerns.

More information about CAPS services can be found on our website:

For self-help and positive psychology, check us out on Facebook:

Questions can be directed to the CAPS office at 607-274-3136 during business hours (8:30 am-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday).
