IC Presents "The Wolf By the Ears" and Audience Talk-backContributed by Brian DeMaris on 04/06/15 Ithaca College Opera is proud to present "The Wolf by the Ears" this Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 8:15pm in Ford Hall. The work is composed by Ithaca College faculty member, Dana Wilson, with libretto by J. Robert Lennon and Dana Wilson. The show is directed by David Lefkowich and conducted by Brian DeMaris. "The Wolf by the Ears" revolves around Thomas Jefferson's hidden relationship with his slave mistress Sally Hemings. The beautifully crafted libretto allows the audience to connect history with the present. Even though the opera takes place 200 years in the past, the issues of racial inequality, the responsibility of leadership, and making ethical choices are still relevant in today's society. On Thursday, April 9th at 3:00pm in Beeler Rehearsal Room (Whalen 3104), there will be a talk back about the impact of the performance. Audience members are encouraged to attend and share in a dialogue with the composer, librettist, and cast. The goal is to share thoughts and topics inspired by the production. |
