Please join us at the Handwerker Gallery for a talk by John Scott, professor Emeritus,  Florida State University, "Collecting Pre-Columbian Art in the time of the Easbys."  The talk accompanies the exhibit, "As They Saw It: The Easby Collection of Pre-Columbian Art," which highlights the art collection assembled by pre-Columbian art scholars Dudley and Elizabeth Easby in the mid-20th century.

Professor Scott was a colleague of the Easbys, and collaborated with them on the ground-breaking exhibit, "Before Cortés," staged at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1970. A specialist in pre-Columbian art, Professor Scott will speak about the history of mid-20th century collecting.

The talk is this Thursday, April 9th, at 6 pm in the Handwerker Gallery.

The exhibit, "As They Saw It: The Easby Collection of Pre-Columbian Art," will be on view through April 17.

The talk is sponsored by the Department of Art History and the Handwerker Gallery.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Jennifer Jolly at jjolly@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1254. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
