Biomechanics Guest Speaker

Contributed by Deborah L. King on 04/07/15

Laurel Kuxhaus, PhD, Assistant Professor the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University, is presenting on “Biomechanical effects of rotational speed, joint angle, and muscle contraction on elbow stiffness”.  The talk is on Friday April 10th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in Smiddy 325 and is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kuxhaus works in the broad field of orthopaedic biomechanics specifically in the area of tissue biomechanics.  Her research includes both experiments and theoretical models using the principles of solid mechanics to investigate how function is altered with impairments such as disease or injury. Current work includes studying the strain behavior of the medial ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow and microarchitecture of vertebral bone.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Deborah L. King at dking@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1479. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
