Support the work of the OCE leadership team, while promoting community-based learning and civic engagement.

 

Office of Civic Engagement Administrative Intern

Timeline: May through August (25 hrs./wk. for 11 weeks); AY ‘15-‘16 (8-10 hrs./wk.)

Pay: $9.25/hour

Scope of Responsibility

This administrative intern supports the work of the leadership team in the Office of Civic Engagement:

Laurie Worrall, Executive Director; Patricia Spencer, Faculty Director of Service Learning; Don Austin, Community Service Liaison/OSEMA

Specific Duties

-In cooperation with Marketing Communications rep, update and maintain OCE website, including researching and posting all community-based learning courses

-In conjunction with Faculty Director of Service Learning, develop a resource hub for service learning (SL)/community-based learning (CBL)

-Assist in the development and analysis of surveys

-Assist OCE team in developing OCE student leadership program that will support faculty teaching SL/CBL courses

-Serve as liaison to relevant student service and governance groups at Ithaca College

-Support the development of an OCE calendar for meetings and events

-Serve as note taker during OCE meetings

 

Qualifications       

-Excellent communication skills, including speaking and writing on behalf of the Office of Civic Engagement to Ithaca College students

-Demonstrated interest in and involvement with community issues in Ithaca

-Minimum of sophomore standing at Ithaca College

-Excellent information design skills, e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

-Familiar with OrgSync
