Ioanide presented key ideas from her forthcoming book, The Emotional Politics of Racism: How Feelings Trump Facts in an Era of Colorblindness (Stanford University Press) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges on April 23, 2015 in Geneva, NY. Invited by the Political Science, Education, and Music Departments, Ioanide met an engaging and energized crowd of 150 students and faculty members to discuss the emotional and irrational dimensions of contemporary gendered racism and nativism. She concluded her talk with a discussion on ethical witnessing and the significance of protest/cultural creation in the realignment of the emotional geographies of our bodies toward justice. Ioanide’s book was named one of Flavorwire’s 10 Must-Read Academic Books of 2015 and is available for pre-ordering at Amazon.com.
