School of Music Faculty and Students participate in the Valencia International Performance Academy and FestivalContributed by Craig Cummings on 05/07/15 Thanks to the support of an Ithaca College Academic Challenge Grant, Prof. Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann and music composition seniors Miguel Torres and Adriel Miles will travel to Valencia, Spain in July to participate in the Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival (VIPA). In 2015, Grossmann became faculty member and director of VIPA’s composition program. A summer program taking place in the state-of-the-art facilities of the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquin Rodrigo” of Valencia, VIPA selects emerging young composers from around the world to participate in ten days of intense activities involving masterclasses, lectures, seminars, workshops and concerts. The event is done in partnership with the Eastman School of Music and features the Eastman Broadband and the MIVOS Quartet as ensembles-in-residence. In addition to Prof. Grossmann, the program’s faculty include professors from the Eastman School of Music and the Paris Conservatory. |
