Join us for a workshop at Ithaca College on June 10, 2015 from 1:00-4:00pm.

PRIVILEGE and entitlement are trigger words – especially for white people on matters of race. The dynamics of privilege underlie all forms of oppression. Its many facets shape our sense of self and our interactions with others. Yet it is often those who benefit most from their privileged status who are least aware of the concepts, and who are most likely to take offense at the terms.

Presenters from NCBI* will create a foundation that is relaxed and welcoming to examine privilege and navigate its fluid, sometimes subtle, sometimes jarring presence in our thoughts, behaviors, and institutional systems. We will explore various dimensions of privilege as it impacts gender and gender expression, age, religion, economic status, sexual orientation and other identities, but our emphasis is through the lens of race.

The Ithaca College Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring this workshop. There is no fee for members of the Ithaca College Community to attend. Space is limited, and the deadline to register is 11:59pm on June 3, 2015. To register, please fill out this form:   https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PRIVILEGE2015
