IC's Department of Theatre Arts co-hosts New York State Theatre Education Association's Educator's Conference July 17-19thContributed by Catherine Weidner on 07/13/15 IC's Department of Theatre Arts, in collaboration with Cornell University and the Community School of Music and Arts host the 2015 NYSTEA's Educator's Conference. Workshops for teachers will be led by teaching artists from the Ithaca community as well as Theatre Arts faculty and staff Colin Stewart, Greg Robbins, Steve Ten Eyck, Trevor Maynard, Joey Bromfield and Chrystyna Dail. New York's Theatre Educators gather for their annual conference in Ithaca the weekend of July 17-19th. In addition to addressing state and national standards, workshops provide professional development and engagement with IC faculty, local and regional artists, scholars and practitioners. Last January, several faculty from the Department of Theatre Arts taught workshops at the student-version of NSYTEA in upstate NY, as part of the department's increased recruitment efforts across all of the five degree programs. "We are thrilled to be hosting the Saturday and Sunday events of the NYSTEA conference in Dillingham Center," says Catherine Weidner, Chair of Theatre Arts. "It allows us to reach out to teachers and let them get to know what IC has to offer, and to get a sense of the vibrant Ithaca theatre community." The weekend includes panels, performances, and discussions for registered members.
