Syracuse University Press features new book in their series The Iroquois and Their Neighbors

Corey Village and the Cayuga World: Implications from Archaeology and Beyond  is the first of a set of volumes on archaeological research on the Cayuga conducted by Rossen. Written to be accessible to both professionals and the general public, it is a work of indigenous archaeology, a perspective in which Native collaboration, wisdom, and protocols are central to the research. It is the story of Cayuga history as seen through the lens of a dynamic 16th century village. The book also addresses myths and challenges dominant narratives of the Cayuga, including issues such as the age of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy and the role of the Cayuga in the Revolutionary War. Chapters were written by Ithaca College archaeology graduates Martin Smith (’04), Macy O’Hearn (’14) and Sarah Ward (’14). Also notice the cover, which uses part of the Eli Thomas mural that hangs on the second floor of Williams Hall.
