ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the unveiling of its new fall promotional schedule that begins on Sept. 1. At each promotional event while supplies last, IC students will be eligible for Ithaca Bombers gear, food, IC Athletics prize packs and more! Be sure to follow IC Athletics on the newly launched Instagram account for upcoming promotional events. Ithaca's Facebook and Twitter pages will also promote home events.
Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Facilities and Events Will Rothermel has spearheaded this effort to further promote Ithaca athletic events.
"In an effort to enhance the game-day environment for our student-athletes, students of Ithaca College and supporters of IC Athletics, we're excited to roll out our promotional schedule of events for the fall semester. Our goal is to create a fan-friendly environment that will ultimately give our student-athletes a boost on the field of competition. In doing so, we are looking forward to building upon the rich tradition of Ithaca College Athletics."
The first promotional event takes place next Tuesday at the nationally ranked women's soccer season-opener against Keuka on Sept. 1 at 4 p.m. at Carp Wood Field. The first 50 students will receive an Ithaca Bombers drawstring bag!
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, the #ShedTheRed campaign gets underway. Men's soccer hosts Cortland for their home opener at 4 p.m., as well as field hockey at Higgins Stadium. Students that donate a red article of clothing will, in return, receive a blue Bombers t-shirt while supplies last! Mark your calendar for other #ShedTheRed events: volleyball (Oct. 7), football (Nov. 14)
The #ShedTheRed campaign will take place at every event in which Ithaca hosts Cortland and all donated clothing will go to the Ithaca Rescue Mission Alliance.
Also recently unveiled is the new social media hashtag #ICVictory. Fans are encouraged to use this hashtag to promote Ithaca athletics, while at home events and after team wins.
