IC Circle K International held their first meeting on September 2nd,making dozens of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to donate to a local homeless shelter. With both new and returning members, the student organization is excited to continue their work as IC's collegiate Key Club, focusing on community service, leadership development, and friendship. Andrea Wollin, '17, this year’s Vice-President, states, “Circle K is known for helping out the community, but it has become much more than that to me, because by giving back I have gained a greater understanding of how much this wonderful community has helped me grow and mature as an individual.”
The intersection of personal development and volunteerism is clear in Circle K, where the organization maintains traditions such as playing Bingo with residents of Longview Assisted Living each Monday.
As a returning student organization, they’ve been working hard creating a team to participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk on September 19th to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Circle K works with every possible age group and demographic to put “a little good into the world everyday”.
Jessica Wolfe, ’17, this years Internal Relations chair reflects positively on her experience. “Being a part of this organization has taught me so many valuable things, and I will always look upon my time in Circle K as one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career.”
