Email is a necessity for every business workplace but writing email well is not a skill that most people have been taught. When you’re at a desk and under time pressure to get work done, you usually don’t pause and review the rules for effective business writing. This 2-part email workshop will give you helpful tips so that you can compose your message content quickly, and then edit it into a clear, effective, and professional email for your reader. We’ll be discussing guidelines to organize your message for your reader’s benefit and work on examples in small groups and individually. Take a look at the email you write and receive: What factors make email hard to write? Hard to understand? Easy to follow and remember? That’s where we’ll start! This workshop consists of 2 sessions. · Part 1: This session will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in GL 52 Peggy Ryan Williams Center. · Part 2: The second session will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in GL 52 Peggy Ryan Williams Center. Please plan to attend both sessions. This workshop is intended to be a resource for those responsible for providing written communication as part of their day-to-day responsibilities.
