The Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) held its 2015 North East Regional Conference in Teaneck, NJ from Thursday, October 1, 2015 to Sunday, October 4, 2015. APCA is dedicated to providing leadership training and programming opportunities to students and staff from colleges around the country. Natalie Reed was chosen from a field of candidates to serve as an Intern to the Director of Education and Associate Services at the APCA Conference.

The conference is an opportunity for learning to complement the classroom experience. There are educational sessions addressing such topics as motivation, stress management, communication skills, decision making, ethical leadership and group processing techniques.

The APCA North East Regional Conference is a valuable educational experience for all students who attend. Many of the students return with new perspectives and more definite future goals.

Natalie is one of these students whose perspectives changed and leadership style grew because of APCA. She has also assisted the Assistant Director of Student Involvement with the creation of an assessment rubric to measure the learning outcomes APCA has to offer for Ithaca College students at the conference.

While interning at APCA Natalie helped coordinate the APCA serves program, registered associates, monitored exhibit halls and assisted the APCA staff in Co-operative buying. Natalie connected with a variety of agents and artists to make sure their needs were met at APCA. She worked with schools to get the best deals on artists through a block booking process. Her work was well appreciated by the entire APCA staff.

Also at APCA, Natalie won Student Programmer of the Year, for her commitment to the Student Activities Board, SAB. Natalie has served as Film Chair, Executive Chair and Co-Finance Chair. During her time as executive chair she made a few changes to the organization including all chairs are required to plan four events a semester instead of three and initiated the idea of a street team. She worked with event chairs to plan successful events that cost them less so SAB could plan more events and meet their mission goals. Another thing she did well was create a community for SAB. The board was not just a group of people doing their own roles but now SAB is a team. Each meeting she held a team activity in the beginning and at the end asked members to state one good thing they experienced during the week.

Great work Natalie. We are sending you a very special thank you from all of SAB and the APCA Team. We are so appreciative of you.
