As Domestic Violence Awareness Month continues to be recognized throughout October, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management would like to share a reminder of various resources available to the campus community. Nationally, locally, and at I.C., people and organizations are here to support you. National resources for information and education include the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (http://www.nrcdv.org), the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (http://www.ncadv.org), and the National Domestic Violence Hotline (http://www.thehotline.org). The National Domestic Violence Hotline also offers support by phone at 1-800-799-7233. The New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (http://www.nyscadv.org) offers information more specific to the state and region, and also provides the State Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-942-6906. In Ithaca, the Advocacy Center (http://www.theadvocacycenter.org) can be reached at 607-277-3203 for details on support services available locally. They can also be reached on a 24-hour hotline at 607-277-5000. On campus, you can reach the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management at 607-274-3333 24 hours a day and the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at 607-274-3136. Residential students can also contact the residential staff in their building, including on-duty staff after hours. Each office has staff available to provide support, information, and resources to members of the campus community in need. |
