Susan Giarratano (M.S. candidate, Occupational Therapy), Kevin Guevara (junior, English with Teaching Option), Alec Tucker (junior, History and Theater, Education Studies Minor), and professors Ellie Fitts Fulmer and Nia Nunn-Makepeace (both Education) presented, “Breaking the Tension: A Racial Comedy Pedagogy for Multicultural Education” at the National Association for Multicultural Education Conference in New Orleans, LA. This roundtable presentation focused on Giarratano, Guevara, Tucker, Fulmer, and Makepeace’s current research on the potential for and tensions in using racial comedy media clips in college classrooms. An earlier stage of this work will be published this November in the journal Perspectives in Urban Education.
