Chris Holmes (English) Delivers Invited Lecture at University of PennsylvaniaContributed by Dan Breen on 10/20/15 Chris Holmes, Assistant Professor of English, delivered an invited lecture to graduate students at The University of Pennsylvania on the evening of Monday, October 12. Professor Holmes' talk was entitled “Three Types of Failed Mechanisms in the Work of Ivan Vladislavic,” and it was presented to Professor Rita Barnard's graduate seminar, “South African Modernisms: City, Country, World.” Professor Holmes joined the Ithaca College Department of English in August of 2011, and he researches and writes about postcolonial literature, the contemporary global novel, and post-Apartheid Anglophone literature in South Africa. He teaches courses in world and postcolonial literature, and with Professor Eleanor Henderson in the Department of Writing is co-director of the annual New Voices Festival at Ithaca College. |
