Still Time to Register--Winter Session Online (ICC Diversity) Course explores Gen Z & Millennials’ Attitudes about Race and RacismContributed by Christopher House on 01/01/20 Difference isn’t the problem. Discourse is! CMST assistant professor Christopher House will offer CLTC 10000:01 Introduction to Culture and Communication as an online course during Winter 2020 (Jan 6-17, 2020). In this course, students explore and interrogate the ways that communication (e.g., language, media, and discourse) establishes and enacts identity power dynamics. In thinking about communication as global citizens, our online discussions of, for example, movies like Crash (Paul Haggis, 2004) and Snowpiercer (Joon-ho bong, 2013) help us to understand how social identities are constructed, institutionalized, changed, contested and/or appropriated by various social groups. This course fulfills Liberal Arts general education and ICC Diversity requirements. To enroll, search course number CLTC 10000 for Winter 2020 term on Homerconnect.
