Macabre Theatre Ensemble provides an unique experience during Halloween WeekendContributed by Theresa Johnson on 11/03/15
Macabre Theatre Ensemble came to life in Spring 2012, taking over the cult phenomenon “Rocky Horror Picture Show” in Fall 2013, a task previously held by IC Players. The supernatural, horror-comedy, avant-garde experimental theatre found its home at IC, and now proudly features four major productions this Fall, beginning with the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” this Halloween weekend. Junior Cat Proulx, artistic director, says “It’s our first show of the semester, an introduction for a lot of people as to what Macabre is like”. Macabre shows generally have overlying themes of mental illness, psychological horror and thriller, murder mysteries, and gothic-style burlesques. Performance art and street theatre are also supported by the Macabre Theatre ensemble under their umbrella of “theatre”. They serve as a home for those who may or may not be involved in Dillingham, and want something beyond the typical theatre experience. Artistic Director Cat Proulx invites all to join the welcoming community this weekend, “open up your mind and enjoy this incredible experience... Rocky is one of my favorite experiences from my college career thus far!”. For those interested in a theatre experience to remember for life, the Rocky Horror Picture Show will be performed on October 30th and 31st at 9pm and 12am in Williams 225. Tickets will be on sale the rest of this week in Campus Center for $5. They welcome inquiries at icmacabre@gmail.com. To keep up with the Macabre Theatre, check them out on Facebook and Orgsync!
