Student trumpeter Matt Allen chosen to perform in prestigious jazz bandContributed by Michael Titlebaum on 11/02/15 Senior music performance and education major Matt Allen has been named to play split lead trumpet for the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra. Junior Matthew Della Camera was also selected as an alternate for the bass trombone chair in the group. The prestigious ensemble is comprised of the top jazz players from conservatories, colleges and universities across the mid-east region. Other members of the 2016 group are students at the Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, North Carolina Central, the University of the Arts, Towson, Maryland, Shenandoah, West Virginia Wesleyan, Duquesne, Virginia Commonwealth, and Rhode Island. The group will perform twice in 2016, first on January 4th in conjunction with Jazz at Lincoln Center at the famed NYC jazz venue Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, and in April in the Weekend of Jazz in Cumberland, Maryland.
