Park and Politics Students: Spend the Summer in AfricaContributed by Melissa Gattine on 01/13/16 Each year, two students with majors in the Roy H. Park School of Communications or politics are selected as recipients of the Reginald Simmons '75 Memorial Award. The award allows students to participate in Operation Crossroads Africa (OCA), America's premier cross-cultural exchange program designed to promote understanding of Africa and its culture. Deadline for applications is Monday, February 1, 2016. The Operation Crossroads Africa Program focuses on service projects in selected African countries and consists of three components: three orientation days before departure, six work weeks on a development project in the host country, and one travel week in the host country. In 2016, the following countries have been selected as possible project sites: Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.
