(The following message is being sent on behalf of Dr. Timothy Carey, Associate Vice President, Facilities)

I am writing to inform our students, faculty and staff members that the Facilities Department will complete a number of important projects during the winter break and inter-session period.  Our goal – as always – is to provide stellar service while minimizing inconvenience to the instructional program and our colleague campus community members; hence, our selection of this time period to execute the following projects:

1.      Williams Hall 3rd Floor Tile Replacement – Rooms on the southern side will be inaccessible from 12/21 – 1/4 and the rooms on the north will be inaccessible from 1/4 – 1/17.  Offices on the mezzanine levels will remain accessible throughout the project.

2.      CNS Main Entrance Door Replacements – Work will be performed on one entrance at a time, thus leaving the remaining entrances accessible throughout the project. Directional signage will be posted.  (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/17)

3.      Towers Concourse Door Replacements – We will alternate work on two entrances at a time, thus leaving two entrances accessible throughout the project.  (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/17)

4.      Terrace 1 Stair Tread Replacement – This is the entrance near the Terrace Dining Hall loading dock.  The stairwell will be closed except for emergencies.  (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/4)

5.      Smiddy Hall 2nd Floor Speech and Hearing Clinic Door Replacement – One entrance will remain accessible throughout the project. (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/17)  Demo will be performed on one door at a time thus always leaving one door accessible.

6.      Park Communications Bathroom Minor Renovations – This will involve all bathrooms in the building; however the work will alternate so that restrooms will be available throughout the project. (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/17)

7.      Park Business School Bathroom Minor Renovations – This work will involve bathrooms 109, 110 and 329 only; hence, alternate bathrooms will always be available.  (Project Period: 12/21 – 1/17)

8.      Park Business School-Job Hall Indoor Connector – This connector will be closed so that modifications to the slope of the floor can be made.  The Business School will remain accessible through both the East and West entrances.  (Project Period:  12/21 – 1/17)

9.      Hill Center Gymnasium Floor – Facilities staff members will be refinishing the entire playing surface, resulting in no access to the gymnasium.  (Project Period: 12/18 – 12/28)

10.   Excavation Work Across Tower Skyline Drive – Tower Skyline Drive at the entrance to J lot will be restricted to one lane during this project (a flag-person will be on-site throughout). The J lot will remain open for general parking and emergency vehicles. TCAT bus stops at Terraces and Towers will be relocated to the intersection of Tower Skyline Drive and Flora Brown Drive. Signage will be posted at the current bus stops directing users to the temporary stop. We will re-route the buses and large delivery trucks from 12/21 – 1/4 after which the road will be re-open for all traffic. (An additional Intercom announcement concerning this project will be shared on Friday, December 18.)
