In the most recent issue of the Journal of the Jewish Museum of Berlin (2015), Rebecca Lesses, associate professor of Jewish Studies, has published an article on "Amulets to Protect Mother and Child against Demons."

This article, which is part of her research on women in early Jewish magic and mysticism, discusses protective spells and amulets against Lilith, the first wife of Adam, who was reputed to injure mothers and newborn children. She wrote this article while she was a research fellow at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany, during the 2014-2015 academic year.
