Each year, Ithaca College celebrates cultural diversity through our campus- wide Cultural Theme Month celebrations. Through the collaborative efforts of the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs, our campus partners in various departments and offices, and our student organizations, we are able to provide various opportunities to learn, share, celebrate, empower, and appreciate Latino/a Heritage Month, Native American Month, Black History Month, and Focus Asia Month. Ithaca College is proud to celebrate the history of Black, African American, and Pan-African people. Through a collection of culturally rich programs and educational events, we aim to honor heroes and empower our campus community to reflect on the past while creating dialogue around the present day and future.
This Off-Broadway show is a montage of theatre, poetry, dance, and song. The performance explores the complex and evolving love affair three young women have with their home neighborhood, the world famous village of Harlem, New York. IC Alumna Jaylene Clark is featured.
The African Latino Society continue their tradition of this annual social event. Students should be prepared for a night of fun, laughs, dancing, and great food.
Forged from “African Boot dance”, stepping made its way to college campuses across America in the early 20th century, being introduced primarily by members of fraternal organizations within the National Pan Hellenic Council. Mix in WWI and WWII vets turned students for militant precision, and throw in elements from the ever evolving culture of hip-hop and you have the art form as we know it today. Join the IC Step Team for a night of performance and history as they showcase their talent.
This is a career networking opportunity for students in which the alumni of color share their personal perspectives on how their experience at Ithaca College influenced their pathway to professional success. Join us and expand your professional network!
This student led initiative explores topics pertinent to the social of identity of “Blackness” in the 21st century through a series of workshops. These workshops will be followed by a showcase of talent from Ithaca College students.
