Ellie Fulmer, Assistant Professor of Education, recently published an article in Dragon Lode, the children’s literature journal of the International Literacy Association. The piece, titled, “Swimming with Flotsam: Peri-Postmodernism and the Postmodern Picturebook” explores a new subgenre of postmodern children’s literature, what she calls, “peri-postmodernism.” The article centers on the chief tenets of this subgenre, as explored through the responses of early adolescents, using David Wiesner’s award-winning text Flotsam (2006) as a case study.
